7-2-25   THOUGHTS

What a reading we have this morning!  Simple, concise, foundational, it speaks volumes.  This is rightfully, the theme of God’s Spirit Word.  John has much to say about this LOVE IDEA in this book.  Just yesterday we read...   “ Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” 1John 3:18   We see the manifestation of this great theme in the sending of Jesus.  Sin is removed, God’s wrath is satisfied, we are at peace with God, and WE LIVE!  The context of all this is LOVE, and we are to create and sustain this context in our lives and world.   “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

1John 4:7-11     Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  8  The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  9  By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

A Prayer:
Father, may Your love in Christ Jesus, be our reason for living.  May we express that theme with joy and enthusiasm.  Help us to love truly and purely and continually.  May our love fellowship grow and thrive here at Rescue.  Help us to make disciples of this love process.  Please, O God, may we first be disciples of your Son.  May we seek a full knowledge of Your great love from Your word.  Help us to abide in Your love.   We thank You and praise You for the way You have brought us to Yourself in love.   It’s always in Christ Jesus that we come to You,    Amen.
